Taller Wind Towers, LLC, d.b.a. Northstar Wind has appointed wind industry veteran Bent L. Nielsen as Director of Marketing & Sales
Taller Wind Towers, LLC, dba as Northstar Wind, was formed in September 2010 from its acquisition of Northstar Wind Towers assets which include the Northstar modular tower design and related intellectual property rights.
Northstar Wind is launching a line of modular towers for Megawatt (MW) Class wind turbines that will cost-effectively enable tower heights of 100 meters and beyond to increase power output and lower the overall cost of energy on most wind energy projects. This more efficient power generation can be utilized where prevailing winds are insufficient or marginal for current conventional towers. This will allow developers to take advantage of the stronger winds at higher elevations which results in greater production in virtually any location. The multi-panel sections allow towers to be shipped on standard flatbed trucks, reducing costly transport logistics by up to 70% or more. The ability to utilize larger tower diameters also helps to optimize overall tower designs, thereby reducing tower weight and further reducing cost.
The Northstar Modular tower is the next evolutionary step in tubular tower design. The modular, field-assembled concept provides a solution that addresses many of the industry's wants and needs related to supporting larger turbines at greater heights.
Taller Wind Towers, LLC, was formed in partnership with Group Verzatec, S.A. de C.V. and Northstar Endeavors, LLC to transition the Northstar modular tower product line into marketplace production. This partnership will further strengthen the engineering, sales, manufacturing and financial resources available to achieve this transition.
Verzatec is an international manufacturing company with headquarters in Monterrey, Mexico, and facilities in Mexico, the US and Spain serving two business segments: plastic products reinforced with fiber glass, and steel towers for electricity transmission lines as well as steel products for highway construction, such as culverts and guardrail.
