New Heights in Wind Tower Design

REACH HIGHER

The Northstar Modular Tower has been designed using as many of today‘s tower attributes as possible, and is as close to this tower type as can be done where a larger base diameter and
better loads handling are critical paths.

Traditional flanges are mounted to the top of the structure to provide a standard mount to the turbine.
This flange is comparable to flanges used on all other towers today, and ensures a mounting surface and procedure common to installation crews.

STAND FIRM

As with the top flange, the bottom flange is likewise modeled using the same mounting criteria as used on conventional towers.

The bottom diameter however, creates new options for the foundation design. It is now possible to make foundations wider which results in less depth.

It also solves the common problem with narrow towers where the door takes up a larger percentage of the overall diameter, thus requiring substantial reinforcement of the door frame. The NORTHSTAR tower has a larger area at the base and therefore the door makes up a smaller section, keeping more steel in the critical load path.
